Hoy No Circula Measures Implemented in Mexico City

The Hoy No Circula program in Mexico City establishes vehicle restrictions to control pollution. Vehicles must meet certain conditions to circulate according to their holograms and the ending of their license plates.

Hoy No Circula Measures Implemented in Mexico City

The Hoy No Circula Program establishes measures applicable to vehicle circulation, aiming to prevent, minimize, and control the emission of pollutants. The goal is to limit the circulation of private vehicles in the Megalopolis, Mexico City, and the State of Mexico, in order to standardize and minimize the impacts.

Compared to the program used from Monday to Friday, the cars that cannot circulate on Saturdays will depend on both the hologram and the license plate ending, dividing between even (0-2-4-6-8) and odd (1-3-5-7-9) numbers. This Saturday, vehicles with hologram 1 and an even license plate ending will not be allowed to circulate. Vehicles with Hologram 2 also cannot circulate, regardless of their plate number. Vehicles with double zero hologram, hybrids, and electric vehicles are exempt from the restrictions.

The Hoy No Circula Sabatino applies with the same restrictions as the regular program, starting at 05:00 hours and ending at 22:00 hours. The only day when the Hoy No Circula does not apply to any vehicle is Sunday, being excluded from any type of restriction, unless the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis dictates otherwise, suspending the program or establishing a double Hoy No Circula.
